Scholarships and Loans

Tim and Marla Williams, Parents of Jeff Williams tsu97

The Jeff Williams Scholarship

Awarded to a member of the Tri-State Chapter
To recognize and stimulate the characteristics essential in a Brother of Triangle Fraternity, the Tri-State chapter created an annual scholarship in memory of Brother Jeff Williams tsu97. Jeff represented and encouraged the qualities of a Triangle Brother while helping to build and preserve the traditions of the Fraternity. This award honors not only the recipient, but it also serves as a tribute to Jeff himself.

Triangle National Scholarships

Recognizing the expense in attending a university, the Triangle Education Foundation has established a scholarship and loan program for members of the fraternity. These programs are made possible through the generous donations of Triangle alumni.

Each year the Foundation awards over $10,000 in scholarship and fellowship grants. The awards are paid out of the income generated by endowed funds. A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 is necessary for consideration.

The Rust Scholarship
Awards $3,500 annually based on a combination of need, grades and participation in campus and Triangle Activities. All other things being equal, preference is given to applicants in the core engineering disciplines or "hard" sciences.

The Mortin Scholarship
Awards $2,500 annually based on a combination of need, grades and participation in campus and Triangle Activities.

The Edward and Isabell Larson Memorial Fellowship for Graduate Study
Awards $1,500 annually, to a Triangle pursuing a master's or doctoral program in engineering.

The Triangle National Loan Program

The Triangle Education Foundation, through the generosity of Alumni brothers and others, is able to make a limited number of loans each year to deserving Active members of Triangle Fraternity to help them complete their education. Currently, $12,000 is available per year; the year begins on July 1.

Procedure, size and repayment of loans

Applicants submit the application forms, a current transcript, and two letters of recommendation. An applicant may borrow up to $3000. No interest is charged, but the borrower is invited to make a contribution of any amount he may choose with or following his last payment to help perpetuate and enlarge the Foundation loan program. Payments commence after graduation or leaving school.

Eligibility

Loan applicants shall: a.) be Active members of Triangle Fraternity who are enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree; b.) shall have completed at least two full academic years of school; c.) shall be within two academic years of graduation, and; d.) shall have maintained, as of time of application, the minimum scholastic average required for graduation in their chosen majors.

Borrower responsibility

Foundation funds available to Triangle members are the result of the donations of many groups and individuals, and represent their willingness to help fellow Triangles. Prompt repayment of loans will enable the Foundation to continue and expand assistance of this kind.

There are more details on these programs available on Triangle's National web site.
